Just a bit of background about myself and my thoughts on the Budget Motel Chain.
My partner, Jan, and I purchased the Moore Park Beach Motel in 2012 and signed up as a Budget Motels member a few months later.
Having been in hospitality for many years, the latest as an owner of a tavern, I was well aware of the benefits of belonging to a group, whether it be for marketing, buying power or the back-up and support that is made available to members.
As Chairman, I will be continuing to focus on these benefits for the Budget Motel Chain this year, and in the years to come.
My husband Paul and I have been in the accommodation industry for over 20 years in various properties and have seen many changes take place during that time.
We have been operating the Moama Central Motel in Echuca-Moama for nearly 6 years and have lived in the area for almost 18 years, operating or working at various properties during that time.
All the previous properties I have been involved with were in major chains so I have been able to gain some insight into the significance of being a member of an accommodation group.
I was delighted to be asked to participate on the Board and feel that with my vast business experience I can assist the Budget Motel Chain in its direction and growth. Good, clean, affordable accommodation at reasonable prices resonates with many travellers and I look forward to getting this message out there.
I entered the motel industry early in 2016 after purchasing Seymour Motel. Prior to getting involved in the accommodation industry, I was working as a Senior Consultant / Project Manager in the Information Management / Knowledge Management / Business Intelligence area which provided me the opportunity to work with many government departments and top-tier organisations.
I am passionate about investing in and offering quality customer service. This passion drove me towards the motel industry as an entry point.
In addition to this, I am heavily involved in different levels of community work, whether they are government entities, school associations, local clubs or ethnic organisations.
After working a 7 day a week business for 13 years my husband and I decided on a change and bought the Otway Gate Motel, on the 14th November 2003.
Since joining the Chain, I have become very passionate about it and what it stands for. I have attended state meetings every year one was held and have attended all Annual Conferences & AGMs since 2006, as well helping out and being a mentor for new and current members.
In 2016 I was co-opted on to the Board of Directors at then elected as one of the Victorian Directors at the 2017 AGM.
